IANTD Normoxic Trimix Diver
The IANTD Normoxic Trimix Diver program is aimed at those who wish to
dive in the zone between 39mt (130 fsw) and 60mt (200 fsw) but are not
comfortable doing so on air. | |
It can be taken in lieu of Technical diver. The instructor will extol
the need for stage tank use during this class streamlining your dive and
increasing your enjoyment and depth in one fell swoop.
This program provides you with the skills and knowledge to ensure you
are more than comfortable to perform dives outside of training up to 60mt using any combination of air, nitrox, normoxic trimix (greater
than 18% oxygen) and oxygen for dives requiring unrestricted
decompression.
During the course you will complete the IANTD
Normoxic Trimix Diver theory with your instructor, including content on
oxygen exposure tracking for technical & gas switch dives, equipment
set up & configuration, physiology & decompression as well as a
gas switch decompression dive planning workshop. All lectures completed
with IANTD Normoxic Trimix Diver course specific slides pertaining to
the theory in the IANTD Normoxic Trimix Diver Student Kit and materials
in the Encyclopedia of Technical and Mixed Gas Diving.
You will then move to a suitable confined water site
where you will demonstrate your ability to perform the skills required
to safely conduct decompression, gas switch dives using a twinset and
stage cylinder. This session also gives you the perfect opportunity to
touch up any skills which may have become rusty since your last course.
You
will complete at least four training dives with a minimum of 220
minutes run time. Using air or nitrox as a back gas and using multiple
nitrox mixes for staged decompression. You will also demostrate your
ability to carry out the skills performed in the pool at depth in open
water, while handling the effects of narcosis.
This course
requires a minimum time duration of 5 days.
