What Our Clients Have To Say
EXCELLENT Based on 421 reviews Blade Johnson2025-01-26Verified First Time Diving My partner and I had an incredible first-time diving experience with Aquatica Diving in Malta, all thanks to Lee, our fantastic instructor. His in-depth training and calm, friendly approach instantly put us at ease, making the dive both enjoyable and safe.Lee’s guidance allowed us to fully immerse ourselves in the underwater world, and it was truly breathtaking. This experience has not only given me a newfound passion for diving but also opened my eyes to an entirely new world—one I could see myself pursuing as a possible career. If you’re a beginner or even just curious about diving, I couldn’t recommend Aquatica Diving enough. Lee made the entire process seamless, inspiring confidence and excitement every step of the way. It was truly life-changing!Hope to see you again soon to continue this journey! Getaway481413144792024-06-02Verified Unfortunately not as expected. Nice dives, but very bad organization According to the homepage and the pictures on Google Maps, we had high expectations of the diving center and were looking forward to 5 great days of diving. We booked an apartment within walking distance and wanted to use the afternoons after the 2 dives to look around the island.Unfortunately, we were disappointed. The Aquatica diving center is super small, which isn't bad in itself, but based on the homepage and Google, you simply have completely different expectations and are disappointed when you suddenly find yourself standing in front of a garage door.Francesca greeted us in a friendly manner and gave us the usual paperwork. But she didn't show us her small base, the staff didn't really introduce themselves either (which continued over the next few days), and nobody wanted to see any certifications. The dives were all nice and the guides/instructors were great underwater too. What is very unfortunate, however, is that Aquatica doesn't operate alone, but together with the Diveshack base in Sliema. But nobody told us that beforehand or during the dives, so you just find out. This is something that should definitely be told to the guests in advance. Because now we have lost a lot of time every day because we either had to wait for the truck from Sliema in the morning or we had to drop other guests off there after the dives before we continued on to St. Paul's. That's not acceptable! Our plan to look around Malta in the afternoon was doomed to failure. The organization was really bad. For example, one day we were supposed to be at the base at 8:00 a.m., but the DivePro who was responsible for us that day didn't leave Sliema until 8:20 a.m. Our mood was not so good.I also cannot recommend the Diveshack base in Sliema. When we went there for the first time between two dives, I was speechless. Dirty, untidy, the toilet was full of rubbish, nothing to feel comfortable in. The trucks weren't in a good condition either, there was a lot of flaking rust on the loading area where the equipment was...But I would like to give a positive mention to the DivePros: Holly, Daniel and Federico. We had some great dives together, thank you! Please do something for your base and the organization, it's a real shame. Martin S2024-06-02Verified Booked Aquatica, got Diveshack There are reviews that you like to write and there are some that aren't so nice. This is one of them. We went diving in Malta in May for a total of 9 days and were planning to split it up into 2 dive centers anyway. One of them was the Aquatica and the other was the Octopus Garden. I am an SSI diving instructor myself and do around 120 dives a year, not just in Germany but also in Asia, Egypt and Europe. That's just to put this review in context. We chose the Aquatica because it's not in Valetta/Sliema, but in the somewhat quieter St. Paul. We also rented an apartment there and could walk to the base in 5 minutes. What appealed to us was that there was a special "wreck package" because wreck diving is something that my girlfriend and I really enjoy doing. We were also interested in the fact that, according to the website, there is also an attached cafe with a restaurant. This was particularly exciting for us because I unfortunately still had to work a little on the side. The communication beforehand was a little chaotic, we were given different prices by email than those on the website (more expensive, of course), and email attachments were forgotten. Both of these things can happen and it's not that bad. What really annoyed us, however, was that we wrote in March (the vacation was 2 months later) that we definitely didn't want to dive on Gozo because we would be diving there for 10 days right before our vacation in Malta. One day before we "arrived" we were told that we would be diving on Gozo but that wouldn't be a problem. This was of course a problem for us and after we made it clear that we would not be diving with Aquatica in this case, we backtracked and stayed on Malta the whole time. It still had a bad taste. When we got to the base, we saw that the cafe/restaurant no longer existed. It had been sold and is now "the Leafy".When checking in at the base, nobody wanted to see any brevets, our statement that we were instructors or DMs was simply accepted. We had also pointed out in advance that I wanted to dive sidemount. The tanks that were given to me were 2x 10 liter stages and rigged that way. It's good that I always have my own stuff with me, because I wouldn't have been able to dive with them. Nevertheless, 10L aluminums are not ideal for sidemount, but it works. We then drove to Um el Faroud. Lee from Diveshack was already waiting for us here with other guests. For the next few days we were basically only supposed to dive with Diveshack. This is a diving base in Sliema and apparently the two bases work together. However, this was not communicated to us. Two dives were planned, once on the wreck and once on the reef. Lee's briefing was very good, except that they forgot to mention where the emergency oxygen was.The dive itself was nice, even if Lee is a little "touchy" and at the end of the first dive during the safety stop he suddenly had some ink from an octopus on him. I don't know how it got there because I rummaged around in the reef a bit myself, but I know that an octopus doesn't just let out the ink.Lee wasn't there for the second dive because he had to go to Gozo with a student who was continuing his technical training there. So on the way back we had more guests in the car, which isn't a problem in itself, but they all had to be taken to Sliema and that was a huge detour and we didn't get back until really late. The following days it was actually always the case that we either had to go to Diveshack in Sliema first or we had to wait forever until Diveshack was with us and we could move on. That wouldn't be a problem if we hadn't been told to be at the dive center at 8 a.m. and the people from Diveshack don't leave until 8:20 and sometimes don't get to St Paul until 9 a.m. In general, the time management was a disaster and we sometimes had a 4-hour break between dives, even though we were told we would have a 1.5-hour break. We spent this time in Sliema in the Diveshack dive shop and I was honestly shocked. We were there at the start of the season. I would expect everything to be in tip-top condition because the season is just around the corner, but the shop was very dirty, cluttered and the tools and equipment I saw there also looked rather unkempt. In my opinion, the break here was so long because it was important to Lee to get his rebrether ready for the 2nd dive. We all did the classic dive and the dive spot (Tug 2) is also shallow. So there's actually no reason to dive with CCR, except to collect hours on it. The state of the base is also reflected in the cars. I have never sat in such pitiful vehicles on the way to a diving spot in any other country in the world. The cars from Aquatica look halfway OK but the cars from Diveshack are completely worn out. Incredibly rusty, dented, door handles missing, etc.We were actually supposed to dive with Aquatica for 5 days and then another 4 days with Octopus Garden. Based on our experiences, we said on day 3 that we would dive the last day tomorrow. What I have to give credit to is that the dives with Hollie, Daniel and Lee were nice, purely from a diving point of view, but everything else was unfortunately really bad. That's why I can only give Diveshack one star and Aquatica gets one more star from me but only because the shop wasn't as filthy and the manager there was really annoyed that Diveshack was so unpunctual. We met guests there who have been customers for many years and generally only dive with Diveshack. I cannot understand that and can only recommend that these guests take a look at another base. Then you have a comparison. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend either base at all and I think it is a shame that Aquatica does not make it transparent that in principle the entire dive business (at least that is how it was for us) runs through Diveshack. Oisin Jennings2023-06-08Verified Great Dive Trip I recently had an exceptional diving experience with Aquatica for 5 days as a sports diver (BSAC) in a group of 5. The guides were knowledgeable, friendly, and ensured our safety throughout. They took us to incredible dive sites across Malta and assisted us with any requests or issues that we had encountered. Their professionalism and passion for diving made the whole experience unforgettable. I highly recommend Aquatica for a remarkable dive trip. LankySan2023-04-01Verified Professional, friendly and interesting dive centre My teenage son was desperate to try scuba diving in the Mediterranean after getting his Padi in a rainy and murky quarry in the UK. Francesca was helpful from the off, providing a number of options. We opted for the Platinum shipwreck dive and my son was dropped off early morning and was back at lunchtime. There was only him and another older more experienced Diver, so he got a lot of attention and information. He came back buzzing from diving around the old WW2 ship and seeing fish like in Finding Nemo. Highly recommend Aquatica. Natalie2023-01-31Verified AMAZING My experience with Aquatica dive centre was amazing! I can honestly say that I have found my new diving family. Right from the start, Lee and Francesca were super super helpful! I had not dived for over 4 years and really wanted to complete my open water diver certification, as I had only done 2 out of the 4 open water dives. Lee and Francesca went out of their way to sort out a few problems with my previous scuba certification and then were able to personalise my experience to what i needed. My dives with Lee at Cirkewwa Marine park were fantastic! He is an incredible instructor and person! I was so nervous getting back into the water again, but Lee made me feel so comfortable and safe, always going at my pace. I can’t recommend him enough. After 3 dives, including a re-skills/refresher, I was able to obtain my open water diver certification! We even had a lovely celebration after. I will definitely be coming back in the summer. I can’t wait to dive with them again! Phill B2023-01-03Verified Too good for words! Exceptional company! Had the best day out in the water today and would recommend these guys in a heartbeat. We arrived at the first spot to find the water was too rough for safe snorkelling, but our amazing instructor made so much effort to ensure we had an amazing session in the water with his exceptional knowledge of the island.. We were even so lucky to have a little history lesson on the way to both spots..All we can say is thank you for such a fantastic experience.. MariLC2023-01-03Verified Exceeded our expectations by far! My partner and I went on a snorkelling tour with Aquatica in Malta today, and the experience completely exceeded our expectations! The day started with a coffee/ice tea at the diving centre, and a thorough briefing of the experience from the instructor. I mentioned before booking that I have swimmers ear (otitis externa), and the instructor thoroughly explained to me (with a written diagram) the effect that water has on our ears and sinuses in terms of depth and pressure. Due to having the swimmers ear, we decided to stay quite shallow as I didn't want to risk any further damage or irritation to my ears by going deep, not without prior discussion with a doctor. The instructor drove us around for a bit to find an appropriate/safe place for us to get into the water. We spent an hour in the water, and saw some beautiful marine life during that time, namely some starfish, sea cucumber, sea sponges, scorpion fish, amongst other various species! We both thoroughly enjoyed the Aquatica experience, and would strongly recommend this company to anyone who is interested in either snorkelling, scuba diving or free diving. You will 100% be in safe hands with team Aquatica!
