SSI Assistant Instructor

The SSI Assistant Instructor is a key milestone in the professional diving pathway, bridging leadership and teaching. At Aquatica Diving Centre, this program goes beyond certification to develop confident, capable educators. In this 5 day program candidates refine academic delivery, confined and open water teaching skills, and learn to assist instructors in real operational conditions. Emphasis is placed on professionalism, student safety, and effective diver supervision. Through hands-on experience and structured mentorship, Assistant Instructors gain the confidence and teaching ability required to progress smoothly toward the SSI Open Water Instructor program and a sustainable career in the dive industry.

What does ‘Fit to Swim’ mean? 
  • Swim 375 Meters in the surface (20 min max time) Without the Use of Mask, Fins and Snorkel (swim goggles are permitted).
  • Swim 25 Meters Using a Mask, Fins and Snorkel
  • Tread Water for 15 Minutes
  • Full Unconscious Diver on the Surface Rescue Tow of a distance of 100m (8 min max time).
What does ‘Medical Fit’ mean?

If you answered YES* to questions 3, 5 or 10 above OR to any of the questions on page 2 you need written medical approval from your doctor to be able to join the activity. Take all three pages of the medical form (Participant Questionnaire and the Physician’s Evaluation Form) to your physician for a medical evaluation.
